Yea..You don't need FDISK when u need to install Windows XP as a fully featured FDISK is built in with the Windows XP installers.These are quite friendly too..So you really don't have to go back to the FDISK that came with DOS.

To use FDISK u must have windows 98 bootable CD. insert it, boot with cd rom . in the commadn line type FDISK.

If you are using Windows 2000 and XP version, you don't have to run FDISK to change your pc's system type.
But if you're using Windows Old version, then try to make SYSTEM DISK first, then boot it, then run fdisk.exe from floppy drive, the follow the instructions...it will give a restart instructions...then press ENTER...then POOFFFF!!! tick....

you don't need to fun Fdisk if you want to instal WinXP. The WinXP CD will be a bootable, so boot from the CD and the rest in onscreen in simple english.

Go to
START
RUN and type
CMD
then type:
FDISK
bewarned--this is a very powerful command that will wipe your Hard Drive,.
Once it's done, stick your Windows XP CD in the computer, and reboot. Follow the prompts.
