At sixty-one, I've seen so many changes happening much faster than they did inside my youth, and my parents and grandparents youth. They are happening far, far, too fast, it leaves you breathless with concern.
The worst of all these changes, is in the attitude and selfishness, of people. Inside greed, inside our need to own everything we see, to control everything around us, including mother nature, including life itself, we mess with the very building blocks of everything that lives. Man alone, has escalated the ageing of our planet. Man, is the only enemy of earth.
On a daily round we pillage deeper, deeper, through the earth's crust, all across her surface, taking, taking, taking, greedily using up, all of her precious reserves. Reserves, that fed and nurtured the surface, for billions of years.
We rape and leave her scarred, we no longer revere and respect our planet, as ancient people did. Then we have the nerve to think them less advanced! This is how we've thanked her for affording us more than enough, to survive our daily lives. Since in our greed, that's not enough for.
To assist us in our 'spoiled' living, we use up fast, what it has taken mother nature, billions of years to form.
The irony is, she had more than enough for all of us to share, to feed and clothe and house every living creature, on her surface, for billions more years yet. For us all to enjoy and to survive our lifespan. All we really need is water, food and shelter, but, the selfishness of man, especially western man, wants everything and more, just for himself. Whilst merely paying lip service, to the desolate and needy in the palces he leaves barren after raping them.
We pretend to care, but we don't, as we continue to take daily and use up for our collectivel greed, enough to feed small countries, many times over in a day.
Think then, what damage that we do in our spoiled society, what we have already done, inside our single lifetime!
We forget that every thing we own, everything that we 'invent', was once a living part of the earth we occupy. Yet still man conceitedly thinks he owns it, and tinkers with genetics and equations and professes, to be God. Professes to be creating life! Yet all that he has actually done, all that he will ever do, is to use 'parts of living things' already here, to start his gameplan with.
He'd impress me more, if he, like God, created life, after, he had conjured up the gene pool from thin air!
Man, is the inventor of NOTHING... except his own conceit and greed. He just learned how to use life like he played with lego kit as a child... and recycle little bits of it, then, called himself intelligent!
I call him Frankenstein!
Your car, the house you live in, every part of it, every single thing inside it, all the personal treasures that you own, the jewellery and the make up, the condoms and the beer, the mobile and computer, all of them, all... were once, parts of living things, from billions of years before you came along. They are a billion spirits of our planets past.
And we abuse them!
We make them into toys we have a passion for, use them oh so briefly, nothing lasts in man's world, since we discard everything so quickly, even people.
In our childish wnats we forget, that shiny new toy we want, starts to deteriorate and go out of favour from the second you bring it from the shop. We get fed up with it so quickly and buy a newer version, then discard them all, inside the earth, inside her veins of water.
But, we discard them in the form we made them, when they are too unsafe to biodegrade back again, inside her bowels. Unlike those trees and natural things, we've so greedily destroyed to make our toys with, they wont break down, they wont go back to how they were, degradable, reusable, food, for the benefit of the planet we call mother earth!
They can't, because by twisting them into things we wanted, we've poisoned them. As we poison mother nature through them. Is this, really how we should treat our 'mother' after she afforded us our life, nurtured us with love, provided everything our physical body needs, on a daily basis?
Before industry started on a big scale, before fat cats got greedier and greedier, before eletricity and atomic power came, our planet evolved slowly. And even in her angry outbursts, even when she herself spewed ash and fumes, nature soon repaired the damage, moved the plates, created land and trees and life again, made beauty out of chaos. And seeds of life sprang through yet again, and again, and again!
But the serious damage and polution that man causes, is much less easy for mother nature to pull back inside herself. We've vaccinated her with our poisons, but our vaccinations make her sick, they are not the ones that protect her from us, her enemey, man.
We kill parts of her body off forever as the poisons that are seeping deeper into her veins, are destroying the very building blocks, that natural disasters always left behind, to rejuvinate the planet once again.
Man's greed, his need to take control, has moved us on much too fast, for the human minds to take as well. And man is getting sicker too.
We live far too fast for the human mind to take it all in, in one lifetime, and mental health issues are on a massive scale, because we did not slow the pace and be less selfish. Mental health, has become a worldwide industry, encouraged by the legal drug cartels, allergies and autism are endemic in this modern world, and there are now more mental health conditions and cancers, than had ever been, since all the time in earth's history, before this past century.
For the sake of DIY and natural wood floors, we are ripping out our trees across the world, these very trees are sole providers of the oxygen we need for our atmosphere. And we do it, not to survive, not to merely have sufficient for our daily needs, as our ancesters did, but to be one step ahead, of all our friends, with fancy homes and wooden floors.
We are killing off each breath our planet takes, and that which our descendants should take, as their legacy from earth! What price fashion then? What price keeping up with the neighbours then? How will our children's, children's, children, judge our selfish lives, when we hand down a damaged planet as their legacy?
I predict this past hundred years will go down inside posterity as the most selfish, greedy, conceited and destructive period, of all time inside earth's history.
We call ourselves intelligent, learned and advanced... compared to the cave man, who knew well how to work with nature, not against her, to survive, we are imbecilic at the least, and a cancerous blot on earth's landscape at best... in fact, we, the human race, are seriously, the only real enemy, of mother nature!
