To people who think the lawyer was lying: If the lawyer was lying, then it would mean that lawyers aren't liars. But didn't you say that the lawyer was lying?

This question isn't supposed to be taken seriously... Remember you're in the Jokes/Riddles category. This question is supposed to make you confused and make your head hurt. It's an example of a paradox. My high school teacher asked us this question and I was very confused (still am) as well, but it's fun to see how others respond to this question.

Yes, she was lying. And no, this doesn't result in a contradiction - in reality some lawyers are liars and some lawyers tell the truth. This particular lawyer happens to be among those who are liars, but it is false to state that they all are.

Well, it is a conundrum - however, I think maybe the punctuation in your sentence is incorrect - Did the lawyer say that "all lawyers are liars." Or did the lawyer ask "Was he/she lying?" Or is it that if all "lawyers" are liars - were they lying when they said that???? I'll wait for your answer!!!

hehe... did your teacher explained the answer? just in case.

The lawyer was lying. The key here is the word "all". So since the lawyer was lying it means "some lawyers are liars not all."

they're in all likelihood in basic terms liars. they prefer to get the votes of the very non secular people so that they ought to say they're Christian. If any baby-kisser suggested they were atheist that doesn't bode properly for them inspite of in the experience that they were the superb candidate. Like heavily, imagine what may take position if like a presidential candidate replaced into openly Jewish or Muslim or Hindu or what have you ever. people may bypass loopy with the rumors and the propaganda and the undesirable mouthing. they could by no skill have achievable of being elected. Even now with the completed "Obama is Muslim" crap. This us of a is so unhappy.

If the statement was true, then the lawyer was telling the truth.........which would mean the statement was false. If the statement was false, then the lawyer was lying.......it's a pointless question.

She couldn't be truthful. The statement would contradict her profession, therefore she was lying and the statement is untrue.
