proton pump inhibitors (PPI) like omeprazole, esomeprazole, pantoprazole, rabiprozole etc. are good for GERD or heartburn. they regulate the acid production in the stomach at cellular level but for existing acid in the lumen they can be neutralized by mylanta, maalox, novaluzid etc. dont self medicate, consult a gastroenterologist cause you need to treat the primary problem, not the manifestation of that problem. you may be having dysmotility syndrome or somatic manifestation of a CNS problem.

I take 40 mg of Protonix (Pantoprazole sodium), it is wonderful, I have not had heartburn since I have started it. Otherwise Zantac is pretty cheap & very easy to find.

i really shouldn't tell you this but I ALWAYS USE half a teaspoon of baking soda and put it in a tall glass of water and stir and drink it slowly but it's CHEMICAL so if you're looking for a NATURAL thing then i would suggest Zircom or Mylanta
