It's a supply responding to demand. The reason why there are hookers because there are desperate men who are willing to pay for sex. It's really that simple.
If you look at it from the historical perspective, women at times just didn't have the choice. The important thing always is to ask the Right Question!
Which is Not why there are hookers? But why do woman become hookers?
Now that would be an interesting and far more important question.

When wives learn to pleasure the husbands at home, the demand will drop and hookers will be out of jobs.
There are a lot of things the hookers offer that wives won't even think about. The sooner they learn the better for society.

As girls reject all the nice guys for wkers then complain guys are bastards
So lots of lonley needy guys and girls dont date them, so they end up looking for warmth and affection with hookers to take away the pain, maybe practice skills like how to take off a bra and hopefull become less needy so they can get a girlfirend and hopefully impress her with what they learnt and fall in love and get realtionships...
Likewise widowers and the divorced later in life still need affection but too old to pull break dancing in clubs... Likewise ugly guys need affecetion too...

2 for as long as there has been sex people have been using it as a bargaining tool
3. after the invention of money the only way to openly bargain with sex was to charge for it.
QED Prostitution was created by inventing the concept of Money (which in reality was probably the 2nd worst invention ever after Religion) think of it you can get what you want when you want and do what you want job wise without having to apply for loans or payment - the financial industry would not exist so we could spend more time creating that moving number around .. and Best of ALL Accountants wouldn't exist!!

Every one is entitled to work for a living, and considering that prostitution is the oldest career in the world, they should be given premises to offer their services, and be legalised like it iis in other parts of Europe like Holland and Germany.
