Apparently it's the Number of the Beast in Christianity. The meaning of the number is debated but some interpret it to refer to the Antichrist. In Judaism, the number is interpreted to be a holy and mystical number and may represent the physical world Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Beast that the number is for is a government. In Western societies, the number is often perceived as the Devil's number. There is also a fear of the number 666, it is called hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia.
666 is also a German house band and a brand of cough syrup...

Revelation was originally titled Apocalypse in Greek and may refer to uncovering the secrets of the Gods.
It could be that Revelation is a collection of ancient mathematical knowledge encoded to keep it secret... hence the phrase "here is wisdom".
For example...
If you take the first SEVEN prime numbers 2,3,5,7,11,13,17 and square them you get 4,9,25,49,121,169,289. Add those up and you get 666.

Its a code that the Romans i think cant be shore. Used to use when they would talk s*hit on there leader.. So they wouldn't get into trouble.. They would referr him as 666. It has nothing to do with the devil if thats what you are looking for...

It is supposed to represent the devil which doesn't exsist. God cast the Arch Angel of white light Lucifer
out of heaven becaiuse he questioned God. Then the
Arch Angel Samiel decended of his own free will. Samiel is the one who protrayed the serpant who tempted Eve. Many more Arch Angels were cast down or decended of their own free will so we must have lots of devils running around in hell. The 666 thing is just stupid made up crap made up by the Catholics.
