They're the same, aren't they? Like one person can have many names, you know? My mom, I would, of course, call "Mom", but her friends would use her first name, but her patients would call her "doctor", and her college friends might have a nickname for her.
It's horrible when peace loving Muslims have to bear the burden that terrorists and racists create. Please know that there are those who understand that Islam and terrorism are not the same thing. And know that there are others who respect your religion and culture.

See Allah is a chosen word by the Almighty himself. The reason is just because of a simple Surah, Chapter No. 112 of the Holy Qur'an which says: He is Allah, the One and Only! Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him. This is a litmus test for anything to be a god. Put your belief into this and the result is a god if it qualifies all the above mentioned. The problem with referring Allah as God; If I add an "s" to it, it becomes Gods which is not possible. There could be only one god and no power sharing. If I add an "dess" to it, it becomes Goddess which is female for God. The problem here is god is of no sex. Futhermore it continues... I hope you get the point. I have no problem in using the term god when talking to a non-believer during "dawa'h" or preaching because this person is familiar with the term and understands it already so it would be easier to approach them. I read an answer telling that Jesus's god and Muslim's god are different, It is not so. You have every right to know about religion and so I'm answering to that as well I hope you don't mind. See first Adam PBUH was created without Mother or Father both this is an accepted fact by both Muslims and the Christians. Now comming on to the birth of Jesus or Eisa ibn Maryam PBUH, here only father is missing, in comparison Adam should be a bigger god than Jesus. Tell me why is Adam not a God in christianity and Jesus is. The answer to all this is just that Jesus is a Man and a Prophet, he was created by Allah's will so was Adam and all the living and non-living things. Never did Jesus ask his followers to worship him but only guided them to worship the god he worshiped. The same teachings where of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. This is an approach I take to question ones own belief related to God, once he / she understands the concept then ask them to put the God they believe in to litmus test of Surah Al-Ikhlas Chapter No.112 the result is thier wish to believe in or not. We muslims do worship the same Allah or God that was the creator of Adam, worshiped by Abraham, Moses and Jesus Peace Be Upon Them All.

Allah is the arabic term for God, most people associate it with Islam but Christians, Jews and Muslims who speak Arabic use 'Allah' as well. It is translates into The God in English. Allah/God is the same God in the Bible and is the same God worshipped by everyone in other religions.
Some people are just idiots, they shouldn't insult other people's beliefs.

Muslim's have 100 (one remains unknown) names for Allah, but do not know him as Father. Islam teaches that Jesus is a prophet, whereas Christianity teaches that no man can be saved except through Him. From these and many other differences about the nature and character of God as revealed respectively by the Bible and the Koran it is impossible to believe that the Christian God and Allah are one and the same.
1 John 2:22-23 states, "a liar is anyone who says that Jesus isn’t truly Christ. Anyone who says this is an enemy of Christ and rejects both the Father and the Son. If we reject the Son, we reject the Father. But if we say that we accept the Son, we have the Father." From this and many other verses a Christian has to conclude that Allah is a lying spirit sent to deceive the world and that Mohamed is a false prophet.
This is not a personal attack on sincere Muslims, many of whom take their faith far more seriously than many people who call themselves Christians, it is a simple statement of what the Bible says. The Bible and the Koran cannot both be right.

Allah and the real God is the same. Allah is the name in Arabic. God is the name in English. However if someone insult God, you as a Muslim should know that even though there is only one true God but the Muslims' understanding of God (or "Allah" to be precise) is different from other religion. [Note: false gods or deities are named "thagut"]
For Muslims, God is almighty and He is to be revered. A Muslim is afraid even to say a single bad thing about God. Islam also teaches about the 99 sacred attributes of God. Other religions way of teaching about God is different from Islam.
For others, they have their own understanding of God. To the Christians, God has three pesonalities that is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
To the the group of people who don't believe in any religion like Atheists, they believe there is no God. To them God is only a concept, a creation of the mind. Hence, for them, they can say whatever negative things about God even though for Muslims the words may be considered offensive.
Be patience ("sabr"). Read chapter Al Kafirun in the Quran.

Allah introduces him self as Allah. There is a quran aya' saying "innallaha rabbi wa rabbikum fagbudu... hazaa sirathum musthakeem ([jesus said]verily, Allah is my sustainer and your sustainer, so worship him, it is the straighest path). The word Allah has no plural nor feminine.
The word, God is 'ilah' in arabic. It has plurals (Gods) and feminine too (Goddess) so some prefer to use Allah always instead of God. Allah has 99 beautiful names. You can call him by anyname and Allah is the owner of hearts, so he knows the intention. When using the word God, make sure you use 'One God -ilahun wahid'. The most powerful saying in this world and hereafter is,
La -No
ilaha - God
illallah -Except Allah...

As you already know why Muslims use the word Allah instead of other attributes most of the time but I will post it once again because I know some ignorant people will come here and say things like "fake god" and "moon god"
Allah is used by Muslims is because there is no other word in the world can justify the true meanings of God Almighty.
Word Allah is also used in ALL Arabic trasnlations of Bible for God.
There is another word for fake god in Arabic and it's "ilah".
All semetic languages have very similar word for God for example, Elohim (im is added for respect) in Hebrew. Also notice in Bible when Jesus was on the cross he used a very similar word "Eli".
Allah is also used because of it's uniqueness, if there are five people who have never met each other and they all are from different faith, if they all use the word "God", the other person will think he/she is talking about the very same God, other person believes.
Word Allah can not be played around and doesn't shows any gender or gives you any images what God looks like. For example, add "ess" with God and it becomes a "godess", as an "s" and it "gods", add "father and it becomes "godfahter".
Also for a Hindu, when he says "God" he pictures a statue of a human with a head of elephent and has 8 hands, for many Christians, word "God" brings a picture of a middle eastern man with long beard and hair and is nailed on a cross.
Hope this will help many understand the true meaning of the word Allah.
