The whole anti-female thing was mostly Paul's doing, although there was a lot of cultural bias against women back then, too. These biases were amplified by various Christian scholars through the centuries. St Augustine, as well as Tertullian, among others were very misogynistic in their teachings.

Paul was a Pharisee, and they pretty much kept their women shut in. He brought his very strict Phariseean biases to his ministry.

Paul was not a disciple of Christ. He never met Christ. He originally set out to destroy what he thought was a heresy- and in spite of his 'conversion' on the road to Damascus, some say he accomplished his goal. In fact, he quarreled with the original surviving disciples-Jesus' brother (some say twin brother) James, creating the very first schism of many in the newly forming Church.

Christ had many apostles- up to 70, according to some scholars. Many of them were women, and in fact, the women mentioned in the Synoptic Gospels, including Mary Magdalaine, were his apostles.

Oddly enough, Jesus' followers were fewer in number than many of the other 'miracle workers' contemporary to him. Josephus Flavius wrote of some that had up to 3000 or more followers cutting swaths through Judea and surrounding areas. It is even speculated by some scholars that Jesus was a composite figure created from these other miracle workers.

I sincerely believe that anyone who feels the calling towards the public administering of spiritual ministry- be it Christian or otherwise, should heed that calling. Christ himself said in the Gospel of Thomas:

"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."

Paul was an apostle of God so we have to assume he was speaking by the authority of the Holy Spirit. Women are not hindered from speaking elsewhere so what is the problem? Paul said it is shameful for a woman to speak at church meeting. Paul was God's apostle. I have to agree with him. Sorry.

Since the female mind is wired to be more spiritual and empathic for survival of the offspring, it's a tad odd that the religions from the mid-east degrade them so. Big hint: They are very incorrect about the reality of the divine.

I think it was more a sign of the times. Back then, men were dominant and in control. If the Bible were written today, it would have been different. For example, instead of parables about farmers, there would be parables about stockbrokers. I believe that the Bible is true, but it was also written so that its readers could understand.

You have to remember that woman no matter what is below a man.........BUT a man does not have a right to ABUSE his right over the woman...........The submission of woman helps teach the man submission to God
