I'm relatively afraid of heights, and I hate the feeling of free-falling. Flying in an airplane- like a commercial jetliner, not a Cessna- is scary for me. Scary, but I'll do it. Now even though I love helicopters, I've always been too afraid to fly in one. Is a helicopter flight more likely to give you that terrifying, zero-G feeling you get on an airplane's descent? Oh, and when I say I love helicopters, I mean I'm SUPER into them! Am I totally wrong to think that I'd be too scared to enjoy myself?

We went on a helicopter ride in the grand canyon. I sat next to the pilot. the only thing I found scary was the fact that you just go straight up, as oppose to an aircraft. It's a pretty cool feeling. I wouldn't recommend sitting in the front...the floor was glass and you could see how high you are

In general piloting a helicopter is more difficult than piloting an airplane. The nature of an airplane is to fly however a helicopter is far more unstable and requires more pilot input to operate. However helicopters fly alot slower than airplanes. No matter what you should go for it.

Depends on the pilot. Once I flew in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon and the pilot was a bit nuts !!!!! Flew really fast down just to hover infront of the side of the canyon. I enjoy flying so it did not bother me but I am sure that type of manuvers could affect the sanity of many!!

If by scared...you mean "concerned," yes. I am a pilot and fly both. In the helicopter, we do a lot a flying close to the ground and it tight places...it's fairly easy to smack into something.

Also, there's are lot more moving parts that HAVE to work right or terrible things might happen.

Scared no...aware yes.

no

Depends what phreaks you out. The first minute on a helicopter will do that, seeing the ground leave you but after that you usually will enjoy a helicopter more than a plane.

If you are scared of airplanes and the way they feel than the answer is yes.But if you can over come your fear than do it.
The only thing you should fear is GOD and not knowing where your going when you leave the natural.
