my daughter will be celebrating turning 1 in 3 three months. id like to start organizing for it now so its done properly, all in advanced. i want to plan something really special for her. i want it to be a big deal. because i never had a baby shower. she's my first daugher so i've never planned a 1st birthday before. whatever i arrange, id want it all filmed so she can look back on it when she's older. also i have no idea about gift idea's. what does a mother get for her daughters 1st birthday? i want to give her something she can keep for ever. any suggestions?

my best advise is to make 2 cakes, one for her and one for everyone else. It was a magical moment letting my baby tear into that lil cake. Have fun and dont make too big of a deal, she wont remember it. I think the 1st b-day is mostly for the parents sake. As for a present something that would last forever,,,a charm??

You are making a big deal out of something she will never remember. A 1 year old is too young for a birthday party. BUT, if you want a party for YOU to remember, just put together a friendly little party for close family and friends. Make sure to take pictures or video. There really is no appropriate gift for a baby, though...she will outgrow anything in no time.

This party is for you, not her. She won't remember it three days later and won't have the slightest idea what's going on during the party.

Buy her a Savings Bond.

how about you starting her a charm bracelet and every year you add to it then when she gets older 18 or 21 you can give it to her... keep a diary with it add a few words each time.or a story of that year of her life...her fist step what it meant.. well good luck take videos and lots of pictures..
