Because young people today don't know how to deal with all the drama the elderly have seen and lived through. Weakness. Todays world is so different, I'm not elderly, but just seeing what teens go through the last two years is crazy.

The sad thing....is they bring it on themselves, everyone is so worried about fitting in they forget who they are! I wish more kids would look up drama in the dictionary!

Younger people cannot face problem like the elderly ones, they chose to run away and the easiest way is to commit suicide.

I agree with Crys, younger people think more about the immediate attention than long term repurcussions.

Also, and I am not an authority on this, I suspect older people have seen enough in their lives to want to carry on. They value the gift of life more, because they know their days are limited.

Elders have more experiences, while the younger people don't see a way out but death as a resolution.

because they don't really know what life has to offer & they are judging from their own experiences. Plus they listen to the wrong people & think that their life will never get better.
Plus it might be hireditary.
Who knows, some people just have a bad life & they don't see a way out or no one is there for them.

:(

Maybe because the elderly have lived a long time and have already experienced loneliness and delt with it, while youth don't understand why they are feeling such hopelessness and they haven't learned that there is someone to lean onto - I believe that that 'someone' is Y'shua!

Older people have developed better skills to deal with their lonliness. And younger people don't always consider the consequences of their actions beyond that they'll get attention now.

Elderly have grown up enough to know that suicide isn't the answer. They also have experienced lonelyness before and so it isn't quite as bad as it is for someone who is experiencing it for the first time.
