Treatment of HIV is exactly that. Since HIV is a virus, we do not have medication that can cure it, like we do for bacteria. All we can do is treat it. There are many drugs on the market now that "attack" a different part of the virus. When a treatment regimen is begun, it is usually with at least 3 different drugs, this allows less of a chance of a mutation occurring and the virus becoming resistant. To prevent this adherence is extremely important. I suggest that you ask a medical professional as this site is not a substitute for that. Also, you can check out www.thebody.com for further information on this, and HIV/AIDS in general. Take care and stay safe!

I don't recall specifics, but there are anti-viral drug cocktails available for treatment. They are rather effective in slowing the progression of the disease. They are so effective in fact, that HIV is now classified as a manageable disease because many patients live up to 20 or more years. Of course, the patient should adopt a healthy lifestyle to improve the quality of life and overall health. Also, it is best to try to keep stress levels at a minimum level because stress compromises the immune system even further..

there are may medications which are used to stop the virus from replicating, or duplicating itself. The mechanisms that prevent it from reproducing are complicated, however different medications are used for different strains of the virus. These medications are taken every day, some newer ones are injections that are given twice daily. Presently, all of these treatments you must take for the rest of your life once you start them

So far, no known cure..only protection from it. " An ounce of protection is better than pounds of cure."
