Most other religions don't think he looks human. This thought got me thinking further. Would civilisations on other planets (assuming they exist) also invent gods and would they imagine him (them) to look like them too? Interested in your ideas.

When the Bible says God made man in his image, it means the inner person not the physical manifestation. Unfortunately some people would rather bring God down to their level rather than try to practice Godly qualities of love, justice, kindness, self-control, goodness, etc.

Their version of god looks like a human because the god of the OT was one. Read up on the Anannaki. They were individuals in that area mining gold. The Sumerian tablets have the basic garden of eden story that the early bible writers plagiarized and changed to meet their needs. It's not the 'truth' of the divine in the least.

A few reasons. One, only Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe in One God. Two, God stated in the Bible that He created man in His own image. Three, as a Christian, I believe He allowed Himself to be born as a man.

I think they haven't studied their bibles enough to find out what He really looks like. God is Spirit and to know him is to seek Him in the spirit. People have a hard time believing in what they cannot see, so they make up something to help them believe. Like crosses, for example. They can't picture what it would be like to actually see Jesus on the cross, so they make crosses that have a man on it and visualize it that way. But if they were to actually do it right, they would have a man soaked in blood, dripping blood down to the ground, on that cross and not a prize winning statue that is pretty to look at. They don't want to see the real thing in my opinion.

God is the trinity made up in three parts, God the father is the almighty power of the three. I imagine him to be Heaven itself. God the son is the human form. God the holy spirit, is the spirit form But that is not biblical. That is ,my own personal op ion.

hinduism usually portrays brahma (its main god) as a human.

and there are many central african animist faiths which also have broadly anthopomorphic gods.

judaism and islam on the other hand believe that god has no corporeal form (and therefore does not look like a human, in fact does not look like anything).

i don't think you will find an answer to your question until you can be clearer what you mean.

No, Muslims are forbidden to guess what God/Allah (SWT) looks like, it is against our religion because no one has ever seen Him, we can't even say what the angels look like, yet we know they exist, usually in movies about Islam, God and Angels are shown as a bright white light; when anything about the Prophet is mentioned, we say the Prophet (PBUH) said...
