It's gonna happen. It's up to you, really, on how far this goes. Make it clear to your child that certain words are better than others. Use a standard punishment if your child uses the words that are inappropriate. In my experience, ignoring it doesn't work. But chances are Jr doesn't know what he's saying anyway.

When approaching the teachers, realize that the teachers most likely didn't use this word, but another child, perhaps imitating an older kid. Just let them know what's happened, and ask their advice on how to handle it. This gives you a chance to discuss it while not appearing too judgmental.

Remember to set a good example, too.

How do you know that he heard this from his daycare? And it's not the first time he is going to hear/learn bad words...

My advice is to teach your child that we don't say those words in this house. Or that is not a word for kids.

My daughter is around cussing all the time and when she repeats...cuz they will they think it's just another word like any other word...I just tell her that is a cuss word and you aren't allowed to say it. Especially at two they don't know what it is or means...

good luck

Talk to the daycare provider about the new word and don't say anything to your child about the word. Pretend he is not saying it, redirect his attention to some other new word. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore. If you bring attention to it, he will see that he gets attention and will continue to say it.
My son when he was two or three picked up a really naughty word that at the time I said a lot. Thankfully he outgrew the word within a few weeks when he saw that no one really gave him extra attention when he said it.

Two year is real young, the best treatment for bad word is to try to tell him some good words and repeat it often and never ever scold or repeat that word infront of him as child has a tendency to repeat the act for either you are stopping him or making fun of so he intends to repeat those. Yes you should speak to teachers immediately so that they can also check the origin and try to take precautionary step to avoid the same in future.

Kids can hear a word months before thy actually say it, so chances are it wasn't daycare, it could have been someone walking down the street saying it... My child says some things that we haven't said in months( because, we now know that she is a parrot).. It s just kids, they practice words for a while in their head before using them

Tell your child that it's not good to use the word. Warn him/her each time he/she uses the word and ask him/her to apologise.
Then inform the day care teacher that your child picked up a bad word from the kids at the center. If the teacher says, she can't help it, I suggest you put your child in a different day care center.

It probably came from one of the other children.
But even worse if it came from one of the workers!
When you go to pick him up tell them politely you have
an issue you need to ask them about.
just say look my boy learned this word and I want to
know if you know who may have taught him?
if they dont know thentell them to keep a better eye on
the kids and what they say.

Are you sure it didn't come from another family member, TV, or radio. If yes then you must address this with the school. Don't be afraid to take action when it comes to your children's welfare. His parents are his protection from the world and he will become what you help him to be.

Be blunt and go ahead and ask. Be honest, say my kid came home yesterday saying this word, he did not learn it at my house. Let them respond.
