Hey I'm Catholic too :D We use both Old and New testament! The diffrence between the New and Old is that the new involved Christ and his discples. Where as the Old has mostly proverbs, events about God himself, and the commandments! It's determined by the Vatican when and at what mass which book and which exact reading is done.

The word Testament means covenant or promise. As far as I know, my Catholic friends use both the old and new, but the use the new testament more. Most true Christian religions should be using both the old and new, although I belive there are many protestant religions that disregard the Old Testament as unimportant. However it is very important. Everything that happened in the old testament is a type and shadow of what was to come when Christ came. If you look carefully at the sybols of sacrifice etc. in the old testament, they are preaparing those people for the day that Christ would come and be sacrificed for their sins. There is some very enriching testimony of Christ, (See Isaiah 53). The old testament is rich with wisdom of the prophets and should not be ignored.

If i'm maximum ideal, and do not purely take my be conscious for it, it truly is a few thing you should analyze to make one hundred% on... Jewish human beings only believe contained in the former testomony because they don't believe that Jesus became the son of god and that the messiah remains coming. Christians position self belief in both and believe that Jesus will come back for the resurrection. The previous testomony became the words of God before Jesus got here to earth and the recent testomony is depending off of the existence of Jesus and what occurred and what's to come back to bypass. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all tell an similar tale from distinct factors of view and Acts talks about the "holy spirit" which some sects of Christianity position self belief in and others do no longer. so it is why there's a sparkling and former testomony. desire this did not confuse you to undesirable.

I believe the the old testament are all the experiences you'll face in life and how God works you through them. The new testament is where Jesus sets the pattern of how to live your life. And the building of the churches. But that is my op ion. It is not biblical.

OT is good for teaching us many things, but it is not in effect any more.

Eph 2:14 Christ himself is our peace. He has made Jews and non-Jews into one group of people. He has destroyed the hatred that was like a wall between us. 15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them. 16 He planned to bring both of them as one body back to God because of the cross. Christ put their hatred to death on that cross.
