No it is not socially acceptable to wear white to a wedding. Have you ever even glanced at an etiquette book? A bride gets to wear the white so she stands out from the pack. Don't ruin her day.

Sorry going to answer your question with some questions
What colour is the bride wearing? because she maybe in ivory or cream, in that case white is fine
Where is the wedding going to be held and what will the weather be like? You may find that other people wear light colours because of the location or climate.
What outfit is it? because you can acccessorize a two piece with shoes etc only to a certain point, with a dress you simply add a coloured wrap.
Good lick

Do not wear white to that woman's wedding. Everyone will be scowlin' you down like you stole from the collection plate. Pick something else, or see if the outfit doesn't come in another color. See if you can't accessorize it or mix it up, so you don't walk in there looking like you're getting married too. :)

It is not proper etiquette to wear white to a wedding. White is reserved for the bride only. The ONLY time it is appropriate to wear white to a wedding is if it is a white tie (more formal than black tie) event.
You should choose another outfit.

Dont bother about the colour; try using blues or reds or pinks for your handbag and let your shoes match your bag. Thats the advantage with white; almost any colour matches white, so go ahead and enjoy the wedding

It is never ok to wear white to a wedding. It is the bride's day. Have your own wedding and you can be the star.

Try to accesorize with maybe blues or turquoise but white is usually acceptable at a wedding and its her big day so most likely it won't be a competition
