What is my motivation to obey the Ten Commandments of God knowing that I can repent any sin, except suicide, before I die and be absolved and enter Heaven? Does this aggravate righteous folks?

"I’ll wait until I am old, then I’ll get right with God."

You may not get the chance. God may just lose patience with you and end your life. Perhaps you don’t think He would do such a thing. Then read Genesis 38:7 to see how God killed a man who was wicked. Jesus told of a man who boasted that he had so many goods that he would have to build bigger barns. God called the man a fool and took his life that night.

Those who say they will repent in their own time lack the fear of God. Their understanding of His nature is erroneous. If they caught a glimpse of His holiness, His righteousness, and His consuming justice, they wouldn’t trifle with His mercy. Such arrogance needs to be confronted with the thunders of Mount Sinai. He is not wise who thinks he can outwit his Creator, enjoy a lifetime of sin, and repent at the last minute. Deathbed repentance is very rare. God killed a husband and wife because they told a lie (Acts 5:1–10). He lost patience with them. Most people think that God’s patience is eternal. It evidently is not.

The Bible says that it is through the fear of the Lord that men depart from sin (Proverbs 16:6). If they don’t fear God, they will be complacent about their eternal salvation (Matthew 10:28).

Need something to motivate you? Watch the Passion of the Christ.

Keep in mind that this is advice from a Neopagan Satanist. :-)

I have NOTHING against Christians. Hell, to each his own. :-)
But I don't feel you should feel obligated to be a Christian. There's so much Evangelist propaganda out there these days... the stuff that brainwashes you into FEARING the church with the ultimate goal of hell if you don't practically BECOME Jesus.

I say... don't read into the morbid story of Jesus' death and his Resurrection. Sure, he died for your sins (this is coming from a Christian perspective... not my own...), but this doesn't mean that you should forever live with a stain on your brain which says, "I CANNOT FORGET THAT HE DID THIS FOR ME. I MUST BECOME HIM TO SHOW MY LOVE FOR HIM." I don't think that Jesus wants little [unholy] clones of himself (that is... if he ever existed...).

Instead, think of his life. Look at how he helped people out and spread the word of god. Look at how he taught them to love each other and etc.

In a nutshell:
DO's: I should believe in Jesus and his teachings because he was a helluva guy. He helped everyone, taught good things, etc.

DONT's: I should belive in Jesus because he died for my sins. He was a pure man and he chose to die for my sins.*

*This is actually a very impure practice of Christianity which initially started being spread in the Dark Ages.

Try it out. Pick a religion which suits YOU. Don't pick one which you KNOW has benefits. Pick one which makes sense to you... and see if there are any Pros or Cons associated them. If you can't find a religion... you might be agnostic. If you fully deny the existence of god(s) and other deities, then you may be an atheist. Just choose on your own time. Nobody's rushing you. You won't die, despite what thousands of Evangelicals might say. :-)

You should NEVER be scared into believing in a particular religion. This is about YOU and how it can help YOU out in the future. In the case of Christianity... if you're good, then you'll enter Heaven. :-)

Your motivation is to get a chance to Cross those Pearly Gates to Heaven........You can't in no way shape or form be above Jesus or as equal to him either

Personally, I see Jesus as someone to look up to that was honest, true, a volunteer, and one that helped others as much as he could day in and day out. I emulate him for this, not because he suposidly died for our sins and rose up to Heaven. I emulate him for his character.

Hope this makes sense.

If you truly repented, you wouldn't have to ask. Your motivation is your love of God and your thankfulness for what he has done for you.Your other motivation is your love of others. You should not want everyone else to go to hell.
