You will never get a good answer on why not to trust the Bible, because there are no good reasons. The Bible is 1,000% trustworthy.

Why not trust your own conscience instead? Most people are born with one although I know some are not. If you live your life as a basically good person, respect others , follow laws etc. Then I do not think that just because you are not a religious person that would make you a bad person. Sure the 10 commandments are good rules. But I do not think people should be "damned" if they are not religious. Plenty of people claim to be good christains and do some terrible things. My advice is use your consience and live your life to the fullest.

(Deuteronomy 7:5-6) "But this is how you must deal with your enemies: Tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, chop down their sacred poles, and destroy their idols by fire. For you are a people sacred to the Lord, your God; he has chosen you from all the nations on the face of the earth to be a people peculiarly his own."

... and yet Jews, Christians, and Muslims complain when this happens to them. Everyone believes their God is the greatest. If you don't want everyone else burning your churches, you can't go burning theirs. The author of the Bible is a hypocrite who should not be trusted.

Because they are full of errors (hundreds), as well as internal inconsistencies (dozens). For example, we know, conclusively,
- It is not possible for anyone to live more than about 120 years.
- It is not possible for the sun or moon to stop in the sky.
- It is not possible that the progenitors of the entire human race were two persons who lived at the same time.
- It is not possible that the flood recounted in Genesis ever occurred.
I could go on, but by now you should get the idea.

The study of what we can know is called epistemology. I am writing a book on it. It is difficult work, but necessary.

Obviously you're not aware that many people have actually studied and carefully researched the Bible and know more about it than you do or your average preacher. Their conclusions come from the many inconsistencies, fallacies, and contradictions found in the Bible. If you need more info, which I won't take the time to start writing down or presenting an argument, here goes;

First off you have to understand, I never claimed the Bible to be entirely false.

I believe it to be based on truth, but word for word it is false. In other words, it's not 100% truth. (probably slightly over 50%). However most of the messages are truthfull.

If you read it with your heart and not your mind you can see the truth.
