I got this answer but this is not what I have. There are no little blisters. Just skin peeling off. "It sounds like dyshidrotic eczema, a common and unimportant skin condition which produces little blisters on the fingers, hands, and sometimes feet. Cause is unknown-it's not an allergy. Treatment is not absolutely necessary, but if you are very troubled by it, a doctor can prescribe a cortisone-based cream, which usually helps."

Have you been handling any strong solvents or bleach lately? If not, a vitamin deficiency is usually to blame. Try eating native sunflower oil (not the refined stuff, that's useless), olive oil, sunflower seeds. Cut out sugar for a while. Hope it helps.

I have the same thing. My thumb and forefinger (sometimes middle finger) peel. first the skin gets really tough then starts peeling. Thick layers of skin come off. After everything peels (I help it along because I can't help to pick at it a bit), I go into remission for several days and they whole thing starts again. I hate it so much. It is ugly and annoying. I have been to the derm. I started out with a cortisone cream and then to a steroid cream and now an even stronger steroid cream. Nothing is working. My derm said the next step is UV light therapy. Let me know if you got any help.

Why Are My Fingers Peeling

It sounds like you are like me. That you suffer from extremely dry skin.

Get some hand lotion, SUAVE or St. Ive's, is what I use.

Apply it often and after EVERYTIME your hands have gotten wet.

Air conditioning in the car, aggrivates it.
Alcohol, beer, makes it worse. So do cleaning products and even mild hand soaps. It's pittiful!

If I go 12 hours without lotion my skin starts peeling off and it drives me nuts.

I probably apply it 10 to 12 times a day. It works.

HI
I had the same thing happen. My doctor diagnosed it as hand, foot and mouth disease. All the skin on both hands and feet came off in huge hunks. I had this for over one month. It took forever for all of the peeling skin to come off. It started as on itchy bump and then hell broke loose. My hands and feet were burning, I had a sore throat, sores on my scalp, throat and mouth. My daughter had it first but she did have all the same symptoms. She had a few of the pussy sores and I told her not to itch them. 'They turned brown and fell off. I lost a lot of feeling in my hands and lost all my fingerprints. My nails did not fall off. I was in a extreme amount of pain. My doctor told me it was a highly contagious virus and that there was nothing to give me I would have to just live it out. He said it would last 10 days. I suffered for 10 days of pain but the healing process was the worst as I had to remove all the dead skin. I couldn't go out in public, I had to wear gloves and my feet were raw. I couldn't believe this. My daughter got this from a girl on the bus with the same symptoms, she shared a water bottle. I couldn't believe it. She knew better. I told her that next time give her the water bottle we can always purchase a new one. I think I had a very severe case - I never expected what happened. I did not read about another case like mine. Is there anybody else out there with this?

Why Are My Fingertips Peeling

2016-12-18 14:01:10 · answer #8 · answered by jowers 4 · 0 0

I guess it is just normal. We peel off to renew our skin, it just like taking off the dead cell layer to produce new skin cells. It should not happen often. If it does, then it must be due to something you're using like lotion or creams.. or maybe soap or detergent. I once used a strong detergent and it caused my hands to peel off.Hope this is the answer you are looking for. :0

Eczema patients can avoid scratchy fibers for softer ones like bamboo, cotton, or silk, which are gentler on the skin. Opting to buy organic fibers can also be a wise, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative. Learn here https://tr.im/XZsmR
