I want to update the look of my kitchen, but can't afford to replace the range hood. Has any one tried this? Results good/bad?

They make appliance spray paint for this type of application. Whirlpool makes one and so does Rustoleum.

The Range Spray Paint

It is not a good plan to do it in place. With the overspray and the fumes in the house you will have wished that you bought a new one. With the costs of the sandpaper, steel wool, paint, tape, and paper, and the do it yourself results you may find a low end priced hood for the same amount. Also consider taking it down and outside. Good Luck

I tried painting mine and it was a horrible mess. Maybe an inexpensive way to replace yours, is check if there is a Habitat for Humanity building supply store in your area they have many new and used items and they are inexpensive.

I HAVE PAINTED MY APPLIANCES WITH GREAT RESULTS BUT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO REMOVE THE HOOD AND PAINT IT OUTSIDE SO YOU WONT HAVE A BAD MESS OF PAINT DUST. AND MAKE SURE ITS FREE OF DUST BEFORE PAINTING AS EVERY LITTLE SPECK WILL POSSIBLY SHOW.
