Bragging rights. To say that you literally are a genius. Also to hang out with other geniuses.

Ps. even a high IQ doesn't exempt you from spell and grammar check.

I really don't know. I could, but I didn't. I had a prof who said he tried it but they were just into solving IQ test style puzzles, and he would rather watch football on TV. My theory would be that people in the "practical" intelligence range, which is supposed to be an IQ of 130 to 150 (I read about that somewhere on the internet) might not get the benefits, because our minds are too busy with that which is practical. However if you're in the really high range above 150, it might be a good way to meet people to discuss theoretical trigonometry with.

Not really most people I know that CLAIM to be in Mensa are about as smart as a super intelligent brick. They give the group a bad name if they even REALLY are in it. The last person I knew who claimed to be a member of Mensa was a ******* waitress. Now if your smart enough to enter a group like Mensa, why the **** are you gonna wait tables? Personally I'm not gonna claim to be incredibly smart, but I don't consider myself stupid. I DO consider it stupid to need a group to validate your accomplishments.
