well for me personally,I've been thinking of something original (nothing traditional) to use for my own wedding invitations and so far what I've thought of is....
-think of a great location, a place where it can photograph well (beach, picnic area, a place that means alot to you both)
-dress casual (for beach-jeans,white shirt.at park-sundress etc..you get the idea)
-hire a professional photographer (or you could probably ask a friend) to follow you around and take pictures of you n your future husband (act natural, try not to pose. Maybe not look directly at the camera, look at each other, walking hand and hand...cuddle at a picnic bench.etc)
-take lots of pictures (use digital camera, will be able to take hundrends of shots) that way you'll have lots to choose from.
-find the picture that you both agree on. Make the picture in black and white
-make lots of copies of that picture, leaving about an inch of white space on the bottom....kind of like a polariod picture...but larger in size.
-Use the picture as invitations. On that inch of white space, write "Witness a love in progress at *date*place*time*" or something untraditional like that. Its simple but I think it carries more meaning that the traditional invitations. AND you got a great memory out of it!!!
Just a suggestion..lol..sorry if i went overboard. By the way Congrats!!

Once when I was in Office max and Staples I saw they had wedding invitation kits and they were very inexpensive. They sometimes come with computor programs to make it simple, or explain in detail how to do it with a program you already use! I did invitations in about 2 days for a quincenera and they turned out really beautiful. Word of advice just have fun and let your imagination fly! We used ribbons to make bows and used a hole punch so we would have someplace to stick the ribbon. For a wedding maybe a thin white ribbon with a simple bow since they will most inevitably be gong throught the post. Good luck, Im right behind you! I was just asked THE BIG QUESTION a few nights ago, so you're much further so far!

Design your own! I designed my invitations and had them printed. It wasn't too bad a price and I got exactly what I wanted and it wasn't ANYTHING like anyone else's invitations.
Mine had a Celtic chain going around the outside edge with a Claddagh symbol at the top center.

Check out Regency Thermographics. They have an extensive collection and their site is really user friendly. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Good luck! http://AphroditesCreations.regency.ac

look at the Mad About Cards website, you can buy card, inserts and decorate your own cards, they would be unique and original and cheaper than any you will buy at the printers.
