+ Heredity: If twins run in your family, you're more likely to have a set yourself. Your partner's family history doesn't appear to affect your odds of having twins.

I can't really rule out genes entirely...they play a role in pretty much everything....but i think it's safe to say that having twins has little to do with genetics.

Twins happen because of the way fetal development goes, not because of the genes of the zygote.

The woman determines if there will be multiple births..her ovaries release one or more eggs which are fertilized by only one {per egg} of the many sperm released by the male. these babies are called fraternal twins. Sometimes one fertilized egg will split which gives identical twins. Twins usually skip a generation and would be born to his sisters, not to him..

although many believe that twins are genetic(they do seem to run in families) twins are born when more than one ovum is released from the ovary. twins also occur when the egg splits and the then two zygotes develop individually, these are identical twins

genetics plays a part sometimes - and the genes can come from both men and women. women can ovulate more that one egg to have twins and men's sperm can tell the egg to divide in half to also produce twins

well it supposed to skip a generation and be passed down and the man determins the sex of the baby or babys. But this doesnt ensure that you will have twins.
