It doesn’t matter how “sexily” you install the software. You will be caught and fired.

I think it’s a pretty safe assumption that the LAN guys at your office know more about the computers than you do.

why exactly do you need to install software?
I am not a windows expert but I gather that in windows there are two things you can do
- Install a software
- Run a software

The 2nd can be done without doing the 1st one, though there are some advantages of doing the 1st one as well.

What I mean is.. assume that you have the option of installing a program or simply letting it be intsall on someone else's PC and then copying the executable into your box.. your work will in most cases be done just by copying the same to your box.

The few times, I logged into windows as a non admin, I have used that, and it seems to work for me..
Only you need to be careful about where you install the software in the 1st PC. Dont install it in C driver where you will get lost.. install it somewhere like D:/your_desired_location
That way, you will know what to copy right away

I believe there was a loophole for 2000 (or 98? ) regarding installing a program on a system which has setup.exe disabled.
Supposedly Task Manager tasks aren't monitored by most of the normal admin settings and restrictions. Therefore, you can set up in Task Manager to run the specific installation programs 'setup.exe' and it will bypass the restrictions.

Not sure if it works, especially not sure if it works with XP. And don't try this if it's against your terms of using the computer.
