Yes it does. The fat goes rancid. It smells bad. Also, there is an expiration date on it and it's for about a year IF refrigerated.

there should always be a best before date on the can. I do believe it is manditory.
I had some for about a year and it was still fine.
Check the jar there should be a date SOMEWHERE.

after it gets a little old it starts to taste a little funny, but if you eat it it isn't going to hurt you.

I think if you keep it in the fridge after opening, you can keep it for a year.
