Try using baby wipes or better still, pre-moistened cat bathing cloths if your cat gets dirty. My best guess is either Petco or PetsMart. Otherwise, cats are pretty clean and don't need to be subjected to a traditional bath.

Some cats can be bathed, others cannot. I have a cat that struggles to get away when I try to bathe him, but I can control him. I also have another cat that I can't wash at all. If he hears the water running, I'd better let him go, or I will meet my demise. I have taken my cats to the vet because they have fleas pretty bad, and the vet told me to give my cats a flea dip once a month. I have come to the conclusion that my vet is crazy. For the most part cats can take care of themselves, but there are circumstances when the cat will need extra assistance, such as if they get urine or other stuff on them where they can't reach, but have a first-aid kit on hand.

For the most part, cats take care of themselves. If you have a death wish, a very obese cat, or some other reason it can't clean itself, I speak from personal experience-get the cleansing cloths meant for cats-before giving it a bath!! My old cat got his first bath when he was 11...my husband gave it to him...I thought I was going to become a widow that night! LOL Eventually as he got sicker, he was a little more accepting of the baths, but I'd definitely recommend the cloths. Or, if you DO want to give them baths, start early and stick with a routine...by the end of a year or two, they'll be used to it and you will have plenty of years to nurse the wounds from the inital baths! LOL Good luck

Yes you can wash cats. I've done it before and...they are strong when they dont want something. If the cat has claws either all four or just back, I suggest wearing some sort of elbow high thick rubber gloves, like kitchen gloves or something. Or else you may be nursing some nasty gouges. And wear a shirt you don't care about. lol. That's really it.
But most of the time cats clean themselves. It's only when they get into mud or something that they need washing.

Technically, cats bathe themselves. If you are planning to have the cat indoor, I think it's a wise idea to bathe it. I've always bathed my cats. But ALWAYS start when you first get it as a kitten. If you attempt this with a grown cat, you will not be happy person. Bathing you cat will reduce pet dander, dirt, and scents. Just be sure to get specially formulated shampoo for animals. NEVER use human shampoo on animals; it might make them sick.

A cat will take care of himself, yes. You should be most concerned offering a bath if he is extremely dirty or covered in some kind of liquid substance (anything he shouldn't be injesting). It's also good to give flea baths if fleas are very bad because the poor cat could get worms from cleaning himself and injesting the fleas. But otherwise, he doesn't need a day-to-day (or even weekly) bath from you.

Yes you can wash cats, but you have to get cat shampoo at a pet store. When you wash them you must be careful not to get their head and face wet. You do not went to wash their head or face because they can get an ear infection if they get their ears wet. To wash them you have to be careful because they do not like to get wet and they may try to scratch you. When you bath them you must use luke warm water. It should be at the exact temperature as bath water. For the most part cats dont need to be washed because they like to stay clean. They groom themselves all they time, so it is not necessary to wash them.

cats hate water and yes, they pretty much take care of themselves. I do get my cat bathed about 1 time a year but I have my vet take care of it.

yes, you can bathe a cat. Some cats really learn to love the water. Just don't get it too deep and take your time teaching him about it.
Good Luck

Most cats do take care of cleaning their self. They are a handful to wash and will really scratch and all at least the majority of them do. So if you do this make sure you do not get soap around their eyes and try to hold them with a towel or something around them so they don't scratch or bite.
