Of course their physical conditions/health deteriorate due to their genetics, diet, level of activity, actual medical conditions, social activity and age. For instance, if an 80 year old man's parents lived to say 95 to100 years each and they had no serious medical diseases but died in their sleep, this guy could possibly survive to an even older age. There are so many variables such as exposure to viruses, bacteria, injury, chemicals, etcetera. The same goes for their mental health. Exposure to disease, genetics, diet and how they choose to stimulate their mind can determine how mentally healthy they could remain. Just today I heard that you can test spinal fluid for a missing protein that indicates if Alzheimer's disease is in the future of a 30 year old yet how to prevent it is not yet clear. The future of medical care to change this is still in the research stages. Again there are so many variables in each person that it is heard to generalize for all "older people".
