Could be a recessive gene from grandparents or great-grandparents.

Blue eyes are caused by a recessive gene. Brown by a dominant. Apparently both of your parents are carriers of the recessive gene for blue eyes since you got them. Simply put they had a 1 in 4 chance of having a blue-eyed baby, 3 in 4 of a brown eyed one.

Have u taken honors biology? That type enables a lot! ask a instructor in ur college who teaches honors biology! she will precisely know what ur conversing about if u do not obviously understand what i'll assert nicely, what i know is: genes have 2 alleles each. Your mom has a recessive and a dominant allele in her gene. Dominant is the only which educate as your valuable homes and recessive would not continually educate up till there is not a dominant allele on your gene. celebration: T=thick hair and t=skinny hair. T is dominant over 't'. in case your gene feels like this: TT, you may have thick hair because both T's are dominant. yet when that's tt, you may have skinny hair because there is no dominant allele. even as your mom's gene and father's genes celebration to form you, the end result should be very diverse. try searching up what a punnet sq. is. that's the likely ratio that u ought to get a recessive gene, coming from ur grandma or grandpa. that's totally uncommon. I 'm the in common words individual who has curly hair in my kin. i imagine my large large grandmother had it. That confirmed in me. Cool huh? wish this permits!!! =)

the dark colored eye (brown) gene is dominant and the light colored eye gene(blue) is recessive. If a couple of people in your family's past had blue eyes (like your mom's grand mother and your dad's grand mother) then the genetic soup is set to give you blue eyes as two recessive genes have met.

I will explain it according to genetic rules & I hope you can understand.

Information: Every one have 2 alleles for each gene. We show the strong(dominant) gene with capital and the weak(recessive) form not. Each person get one from mother and one from mother. In eye color usually brown is stronger than blue.

A: Brown eye allele a: Blue eye allele

so as I said browm is stronger than blue, it is obvious that a person which is AA has brown eyes
Aa has brown eyes (Brown(A) is strong so it can beat blue(a).
aa has blue eyes

It is probable that your parents have these genotips:

Mother: Aa (she could give u the "A" or "a", but she has given "a")

Father: Aa (he could give u the "A" or "a", but he has given "a")

So you become "aa" , and that's blue!

I did my best to make you understand and I hope so!

it is called hidden genes. The genes may skip generations, and show up later in other decendents.
