It hurts to get them and it hurts more if you decide you want to get rid of them. It costs more to get rid of them also.

I don't want anyone doing graffiti on my skin. I can't even choose one eyeshadow or lipstick colour to stay with.
Even my toenails I like to change the colour of. How could I ever have someone put something in my skin and then like it or not, I have to wear it for the rest of my life. NO Thank You.

An unforseen potentially painful complication with a tattoo on your lower back is that some hospitals have a policy of not giving epidurals to women during childbirth ( an epidural is a needle injected into your spine to reduce or completely eliminate the pain of childbirth) I checked out on the web and there are so many conflicting theories on this but the link below had the best information.

The closer to the bone the more a tattoo hurts.

Mine tickled. I actually laughed and almost screwed up the guy (at least I worried I would and he gave me crap about it). The breast bone is where it stings enough to make you tense up.
However, it all depends on your pain tolerance and the artist... they can have a heavy hand that could make it hurt more. Over any bone or scar tissue seems to hurt more than just on regular skin. Make sure you are hydrated too, that helps me.

from a guy i think girls with lower back tattoos have a self esteem problem, why get a tattoo just for other people to see,if you need a tattoo to "market" yourself you must be lacking something elswhere.....what i am trying to say is if a diamond is a diamond it'll shine like a diamond, but if you put a cubic zirconia in a pile of dog dung it'll shine like a diamond,,,,,why get a tattoo just to impress other people?

Yeah, everyone is different. Mine was acutally not that bad. I was worked up and nervous and expected worse. Hurts a bit when they went over the spine, but it felt kind of like a massage over the fleshy parts.
