That's going to be a 4 day drive each way.

You will spend at least $100 a day for gasoline and $100 a night for lodging and $100 a day for foods/snacks.

Two nights in Vegas will cost (during summer) about $100 a night (probably less if you stay at Circus Circus or another low end hotel.

So you may end up spending about $2500.

You might check out the pre packaged trips to las vegas ...airplane fare and rooms at low prices....A road trip will run you about $220 a day for gas food motel and take 3 days there and 3 days back..OUCH !! Think of the searing heat and wear and tear on you vehicle before you drive across many ,many miles of the USA. 400 gallons of fuel at $3 + is $1200 and food eachday at $50 x 8 days= $400 + motels at $60 x 8=$480... r/t airfare for 2 adults and 2 kids with hotel can be found for around $299 each person....and you save the car and nerves. Texas is a terrible place to drive across..hahaha....good luck.

It is 2,395 miles. Divide that by your average miles per gallon to get the total number of gallons of gas. Average gas price across the nation is about $3.19 per gallon, so multiply your gallons by that to get the gas cost. Plan on $80 per night for lodging, another $100 per day for food and incidentals for the four of you. It's going to be expensive. I would recommend leaving the kids with friends and flying. You could get tickets for $362 or less each, and even less in a package deal. If you want help from a travel professional, visit www.magiccarpet.travel and contact Rob thru the website.

Try Microsoft Streets & Trips. Plan your route, input the price of gas. Locate Motels, or Hotels & restaurants, as well as places of interest.
