because we have the power to release the authority of God when we speak.
that does not mean that God does not work if we don't speak it into action, but by speaking our prayers, we're releasing the work of God in our life, and the Bible says he does not allow his word to return void, which means that once we speak and release the authority of God to move on our behalf for whatever purpose, that word has to be fulfilled, and wait for it, because it will be fulfilled.
Also, God loves to hear you talk to him! He loves it when his children talk to him about their worries, their desires, their passions and prayers. A mother and father KNOW the needs of a growing child, food, water, using the bathroom, etc, so why should their children talk to them at all?
Because it's a relationship! In our relationship with God, we're both compelled by love to talk to and listen to each other. God loves his children, so he wants to talk to them, and listen to them, and help them, etc. By the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, you and i have been adopted by God as sons and daughters, we're his children and he's our father, not even close to earthly fathers, because his love is unconditional and not based on emotion or our performance.
Communication with God releases his authority over your life as God in control and pleases him and brings joy to his heart to hear what you have to say.

We don't have to pray! The Lord does know our needs, wants, secrets, and has the ability to know our every thought. Prayer is simply a communication tool. Talk to him always!

Because, prayer is a demonstration of your faith in God. Everytime you pray to a invisible God, you are demonstrating your faith that He actually exists. The Lord said, "out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks".

We pray to God not merely because we want our needs to be met, but also because talking to Him draws us closer to Him. This is a time in which you tell Him how you feel, and He tells you how He feels. Understand that prayer means that both of you get a chance to speak, which means that you need to leave periods of silence in which you allow God to speak a word into your heart. I believe that if you do this, you will find yourself drawing nearer to God, getting to know Him on a more personal level. Also, if we bring our issues before God, especially the ones that we fear and worry about; it builds on trust. If we bring these issues before God, it shows Him that we have the time of day, and that we trust Him enough to allow Him to deal with our burdens and needs. Trust is a very important thing in any relationship! God desires for us to trust Him! God bless!

We pray as a means of daily communication with God ... it is a means to foster daily relationship (not a matter of treating God as a vending machine -- pop in a prayer -- out comes a package of what we asked for)...

For a brief explanation of how to come into relationship with the God of the Universe, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html

Cordially,

We pray for ourselves more than we pray for Him. Praying helps you to focus on your goals and objectives and gives you clarity. It gives you quiet time to reflect on the blessings in your life or possibly the hardships and the areas that you need strength. God will always know what we need. Praying helps us to know what we need.

Praying is not always meant for asking what one needs. Praying can also be for many other reasons : like steadfast ness, belief in god, peace of mind, soothing of senses, great spiritual experience with god etc...

can you answer one question : Why do we eat chocolate when we know its taste ?
The answer for your question and my question is same : For that great experience

The effective and fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. This is a principle of God's word that also is a mystery. Why would God who is all powerful use people to display His power, to show love, to share His word and to represent God to men? Because He has adopted us as children of God. We have the same inheritance as the Son and have been given that authority. Walk as children of the light because the Spirit of God is in you.

The Lord knows what we have need "OF"........we need to make him aware of our desires....Example....We might have a sick friend that is in need of healing.....someone with a broken heart or relationship that needs help...so we petition God for his help...prayer can also be thankful of all that we have that is good....
