Probably not, but you never know. During boot camp, you're gonna put up with crap just like everyone else.

And I agree with the others, there will always be someone who is angry at you because of your race or religon, especially Muslim.
Don't let it get to you, and don't be afraid to call some jerk on their discrimination.

Salam

i suppose it depends on who ur commanders are. if you end up in a good unit that respects your faith, there shouldnt be any problems. but of course, there's always gonna be some person that doesnt like you because ur muslim. my dad is jewish. big nose and everything, but very few ppl in the army have harassed him about it. they've treated him fairly well as an enlisted soldier. of course, its a different situation kind of i suppose.

but thank you for wanting to serve our country!

I see no reason why you should but there is no accounting for ignorance of a few. This war isn't about religion and I'm sure if you were to receive any harrassment at all that would be stopped ASAP. If anyone ever said anything to you just tell them what you said in your question...who can argue with that?
Good luck to you and thankyou for serving our country.

Something to remember...Do you know what the most decorated unit in the U.S. Army in wwII was? It was the all Japanese 442nd Regimental Combat Team. We were at war with Japan but that didn't hold these Americans back.

You might get a but of flack because of that A HOLE that wont report for orders and is speaking against the millitary and the war...people may be aprehensive of that being ur motivation...im just sayin

Salaam, I am Muslim,

Its ok to be in the army--but you should NOT fight in Iraq. This war is WRONG & Un-JUSTIFIED. You can not go over there and kill Muslims. Allah says that if any Muslim kills a Muslim--then he enters into the hellfire. (Quran)

This is a test of your Faith..Before you serve anyone--you FIRST SERVE ALLAH. That is Islam!!!!

I am American, and I love America--but I serve Allah first. At one time, Americans didnt let black people vote or eat in restaurants with white people--would you have gone along with that because you were American???... NO--we are sopposed to be strong and Follow Allah and the Truth. Allah says "Stand out firmly for Justice"..The Iraq war is Un-Just-period...

As far how Muslims will treat you---I wont mistreat you because you are not hurting me--It wont be ME on the Judgement Day with Muslims blood on my hands--it will be You---if you do this..I dont have time to worry about what other Muslims are doling--I'm trying to make it to the Paradise for my own self. To you be your way--and to me mine.PEACE.

No one will care. Some people will be hesitant at first, but they'll get over it quickly. Ultimately you'll be serving with a small tight crew that will get to know you & not care anything about it. Do be prepared to field questions after they get to know you about why the bad guys feel the way they do & how we can get normal musilums to come around to a modern way of thinking instead of sympathizing with this cult of evil. I appreciate & respect your decision by the way. Good Luck!

As long as you put loyalty to this country before loyalty to fellow Muslims, you should only be treated as badly as any other soldier - which can be pretty rough.

Be of strong character, do your duty to America, be prepared to absorb some roughness and become stronger for it. And, be prepared to look those rough men in the eye and say, 'My Fellow American'.

Yes, you probably will. The U.S. Army is full of straight up rednecks that will not see you for what you are trying to do but what you represent and at this point that is the enemy.

Also how are you going to feel picking up a rifle against your distant family potentially? I can't amgine.

No you will not - as long as you do not throw your religion in their faces.

People tend to get annoyed when somebody tries to push their religion on them. If somebody is interested in talking to you about your religion - then go ahead. But if they seem uncomfortable or uninterested - talk about something else.

IMO the biggest issue you may face is religious dietary requirements. The military is not always going to be able to provide you with food that meets your religious requirements and you may have to eat what is available. This is something you need to think about.

No more than anyone else.

Do you speak any Arabic?
Because if you did you would be the man and you would get paid more.

Welcome to the Army, Glad to be on the team
