Betamethasone suppresses inflammation and allergic responses in people. In young children suppressing them is unscientific because children have their immunological system developing. Immunological responses are normal responses which should be encouraged .Suppressing them is like cooling a feverish child without finding out the cause of fever.

Steriods are anti-inflammation drugs. It is given in controlled doses and patients must not be in continuous use of such because of the adverse effects to the immune system. So children at their early age must not be given these drugs.
