Most people test positive within 6-8 weeks, however it is not considered a definitive test until the 3 month mark. If it was a high risk exposure, testing out to 6 months is warranted. Virtually everyone has produced antibodies by then. Ask a Doctor or check out www.thebody.com

1 month to up to a few years in VERY rare cases. Usually, the "antibodies" of HiV show up well before then and that's the most common thing they test for.
