Joico conditioner or Redken, both are around $40.00 US for a good sized bottle and will last a long time. You'll have to go to a salon supply store to get them but it's worth every penny. It takes an average of six weeks to see the full effect a good product can have on your hair.
Per the hair stylist; only use a dime-sized spot of shampoo on your hair, it's not necessary to have huge amounts of lather, that's only stripping the natural oils your hair needs to be healthy. If you only get a tiny amount of lather it's okay. When you condition, use a spot the size of a quarter, spread it over our palms and between your fingers. Lightly touch the hair on your scalp and finger comb the rest of your hair until the conditioner has thoroughly coated the ends where it's most needed. Too much conditioner on your scalp causes problems for your skin. Leave it on for two to ten minutes, as long as you can and rinse.
Never, ever rub your hair dry, this causes frizz and split ends. Squeeze the water from your hair with a towel and don't pull at it or stretch it. Wet hair will stretch a long way but it also leaves you with frizzy, fuzzy, trashed hair.

the best store brand that i've found is the new line of Dove shampoos and conditioners for daily use with weightless conditioners.
i have very thick waist length hair and i'll tell you, since i started using dove, no heavy hair headaches, massive tangles or anything like that.
it leaves the hair unbelievably soft and smooth.
the dove daily use product is also good for all hair types
