Yes I did know this. Also all religions do not do that. You do not have to accept any one into your heart to be an agnostic. You do not have to believe in Jesus Christ to be Hindu. A fellow above me asked for a quote from the bible saying this, so here is it.
John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God ; trust also in me.
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
John 14:4 You know the way to the place where I am going."
John 14:5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Really can i find that direct quote in the Bible?
That catchphrase is like the most empty understatement of what is involved and required to become a follower of Christ and attain to salvation.
Others:
1. Accept Jesus into your heart.
2. Accept Jesus as your PERSONAL Lord and Savior.
3. Just Believe.
4. Have faith.
And I can go on and on.
Do you really think it is respectful after all the hard work accomplished by Jesus and those that labored after him, to reduce the actions of salvation(hearing, learning, THEN, making an informed decision to accept the terms of those that would have life), to an empty catchphrase?
I think it is shameful how many base their faith on such shallow and ignorant terminology.
That is why you were referred to as "babes" by the apostle Paul.
Because you never pressed on to learn the deeper things of God, so as to truly learn the mind of God.(yes it is possible).
Grow up. Or shut up. You are only convincing many that Christians are a bunch of shallow non-thinking idiots.

Yes, I know that you have to "accept" Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in order to be a Christian. I did that in 1973. I'm presently over with that mumbo jumbo. I have seen the light as I'm agnostic now.

Perhaps, given that you mean "accept" instead of "except. Yet, being a "Christian" was never a phrase or term used by Jesus. He described his followers as "children," "sheep," "disciples," and sometimes as "you of little faith." He described the pathway to eternity with God as narrow, and said that he was the doorway through which all must enter. Yett one telling exception to your standard is found in Matthew 25:31-46, where Jesus makes it clear that unless you practice the principle of loving sacrifice you will not be one of his sheep, and therefore not be a part of the kingdom of God. He even hints that some will become sheep though they never knew him by name, because of their acts of authentic sacrifice and kindness, which he said were therefore done to none other than him, much to the unaware sheep's surprise. But few of us are any longer uninformed sheep, and we know of his name and cause. So, ignorance of the glaring, irritating fact that Jesus stands as the dividing cause of humanity can't be foisted upon God as an excuse for any person's selfish and prideful behavior.

You must accept Jesus Christ as your personal LORD and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, truth, and life and NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT BY ME." (emphasis added)
Read Acts 4:10,12 "Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole....vs12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
It clearly states that salvation is only in Jesus.

Excellent point :)
I have accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior.
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
Cordially,
John

According to who? The only authority on this matter is whatever people agree to, but there is no such agreement. You can quote the Bible all day, but if someone does not see the Bible as the ultimate authority, you're wasting your time. Or you can refer to the Pope, or tradition, etc. There's no way to verify any of these have any authority. It's just people claiming things they can't substantiate.

Yup, though to do that would make me a lemming, Then I'd have to pay tithe. I'd rather save my money and realize that God is an imaginary character created by man as a need for upholding law in a lawless land thousands of years ago.
