a strong antibiotic and antibiotic topical cream for the site. How concerned should I be and how can I tell if it is getting worse. The web sites I have gone to says it takes weeks for the site to rot and others say it happens almost immediately. Anyone have any clues?

First, I am SO sorry about what happened to you!

Secondly, do EXACTLY what your doctor has told you to do! Keep a watchful eye on the affected area and if you notice any changes that cause you concern, contact your physician immediately!!!

Best of luck to you, I hope you have a thorough and rapid recovery!!!!!!!!!

It depends on how much venom it gave you ,where you were bit , your age and health.
Follow the doctors orders and see him if there are any changes. Those bites are very nasty, I have seen pictures.

do not pick at it, if you break the puss sack open it will enter your blood stream and you may die.
