Well, I'm not a girl, but I work in the medical field, so I'm hoping I can help. While the rhythm method, a contraception method which revolves around timing the menstrual cycles for those who may not know, is not recommended, it is still often practiced. The rhythm method is only marginally effective, & requires women have regular periods. In this case, a woman using the rhythm method wants to abstain any time around 14 days after her first day of menstruation, because this is roughly about the time that ovulation occurs. The safest time to have sex is either during or immediately after menstruation, as this is the time when it is least likely that an egg will be present to be fertilized. This is also probably the time when desire will be the lowest, as the menstrual cycle gears a woman to want to have sex the most during & immediately after ovulation, for the sole purpose of getting pregnant. Still, the rhythm method has nowhere near the effectiveness rate of more advanced methods of contraception, & cannot protect against the transmission of STDs. Therefore, condoms, preferably in combination with other birth control methods, are recommended. The link below may provide more information. Hope this helped.

If you are unmarried, try not to have sex at all. If you have a 28 day cycle, meaning the first day of your period if on the 1st then you will start again on the 28th, you are probably more apt to get pregnant between days 13 thru 16. Most women ovulate around the 14th day if they have a 28 day cycle. If you have a 30 day cycle, then your probably ovulating around day 15 or 16. Frankly, if you don't want a baby, use a reliable form of birth control but to guarantee no pregnancy, don't have sex.

Uh, I'm not a girl but when my girlfriend and I were together I learned that it really doesn't matter what part of the cycle you are in, you are at risk for pregnancy at any time if you are having unprotected sex.
I would suggest you plan carefully, have a condom, have birth control, or both to be sure. Not only to protect yourself but the both of you.
Hope this helps

there is never a right time not to get pregnant. And you should be using protection anyways, especially if he is not you life partner. But i think you have a better chance of getting pregnant more so 3 days after your period.

You should never have unprotected sex unless you are married. Actually, even if you are married - you should use protection unless you want a baby.
There really is never a safe time as an egg releases about 10 days before your period starts, and sperm can last up to 4 days.

There is no right time not to get pregnant unless you're using birth control. This is not the sort of thing you want to risk. You can get birth control confidentially -check out planned parenthood in your area.

theres really no time you cant get pregnant. even birth control is not a hundred percent effective. you should always use condoms anyway to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases. best bet is to wait but if thats not the option for you and you dont want any unwanted consequences use pills and condoms

When you're not ovulating. You ovulate (the time when you're most fertile...or anywords the time when you're most likely to get pregnant) about two weeks after your period. So 2 weeks before your period is the best time to have sex.

I figured with 9 kids she would know. besides could be fun to try. for research purposes I would like to know if you do try it if it works for you. thanks
