He had to die to Seal the Covenant But he was human (regardless of what others will tell you)
He held study till on the cross, Where he ask the Father why he had been forsaken....That was the proof he was man, He feared death in the final moments.. As far as hiding that is a misconception , They stayed the nites at the Olive grove just outside the wall.. This was a common place for people visiting Jerusalem..It was like a common sleeping (camping ground) for people that had no money..
Modern Christianity has many misconceptions , mainly because of the iron hand rule by the Roman Catholic Church for 1400 years,,,Once idea's are established it is hard to reeducate,....remember Man thought the World was Flat for along time too! Because that is what they were taught
And Yes I am a real ordained Pastor I have a Masters in Theology and I have been to Israel and Egypt (to study early Christianity,I am also fluent in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.. So yes I can read the original text as spoken, Not looked up word by word like most people due and act like they know what they are talking about.
I have a blog on my 360* that describes why Christ had to sacrifice his flesh and it is not the reason most are telling you...But is to complicated to explain here...

Several hours before the crucifiction he went to a garden (forgot the name) and prayed endlessly to God. He asked him if this was what He wanted and that maybe he could rid him of this suffering. But then he said that if it was the will of His Father, then it had to be done and because it was approved by the Glorious Father, he gladly died for the people and for the will of God.
Simply, he only did things with the saying of God and then he would know it would be the best thing for the people and the world and would be approved by the Lord.
Just to say, Jesus never ran away or hid. Where did you get that? You might be mistaken with Him "praying in a big and dark garden away from the autorities" with him "hiding in the garden."

Yes Jesus did know of his comming death, but god had a specific plan for the way every thing was done. Perhaps the reason that he did not turn himself in was because it would not have the same affect on peoples lives as the story of him getting betrayed does. If he had succeeded with his "Plans" (Although he really had no plan) to escape then gods plans would have been fouled up, and if a mere human was able to mess with gods plans then he wouldn't be much of a god would he?

Yes, He was willing to die. He knew what needed to be done to reconcile people to God through His sacrifice. He didnt hide, He did go into the garden to pray, and asked God if there was another way to do what had to be done, but wasn't asking to not do it at all. After Jesus prayed, He joined his followers and one of them tried to fight the soldiers that came to arrest Jesus, but He made him stop and then healed the soldier's wound. With all the miracles He could do, He could have gotten away anytime but chose not to for our sakes. That is why His death is considered a sacrifice.

JESUS escaped death several times. HE never ran away. HE was innocent of any crime. HE did not have a reason to turn HIMSELF in to the authorities. HE did not hide either. It was written that HE would be betrayed by someone from HIS inner circle. All the prophecies regarding JESUS had to occur as they were written. HE didn't make them happen, HE just knew that they would happen. I suppose if HE ran from authorities, then I suppose HE might have died very differently. Of course, we might not have had a SAVIOR.

I will be happy to answer your questions. Jesus was willing to die for His enemies... not just His friends! Got a great suggestion for you. Pick up the movie "The Passion" by Mel Gibson and watch it. It will give you some insight into this issue. The movie isn't exactly like what the Bible teaches... but it is the best I have seen to date... and for the most part... it is right on target. Just go to anyplace that sells video's and ask for it.

Jesus was willing to die, but his plan wasn't specifically to die. As far as Jesus knew, his plan - his mission and purpose - was to spread the Word of God, call people back to right action, and generally embody the love of God. People didn't like that message (it was pretty radical for his time; heck, it's still radical today) and they used their free will to act. It was never a forgone conclusion that Jesus had to die.
Jesus probably knew that if he continued doing his Father's will and preaching as he had been that something bad would happen. He knew what happened to his cousin John, he had a pretty good idea of the political climate. But he chose to go forward with his message. I'm sure he didn't WANT to die, but he was never trying to hide. His prayers in the garden can be paraphrased like this: "Hey Dad, I can see what's coming and I really really don't want it to happen. I'm going to continue to do what you want and preach the truth, but if you wouldn't mind stepping in and keeping me safe, I'd really like that. Still, you know best; whatever happens, I'm going to be true to your will."
Could Jesus have run away? Probably. He certainly had the free will to attempt it. Would he have been caught? Who can say? God has a plan, but that plan includes that we all have free will.

You really need to read the Old Testament. Jesus was fullfilling prophecy. In the Garden of Gethsemane, he did ask for the cup to be taken from him. Then God answered him. If you don't want to read the Old Testment, watch The Passion of the Christ. And he really wasn't trying to hide, he had been in the streets that day and he was praying in a public garden when they came for him.

Yes, he was willing to die. You must understand that he was not trying to hide. If he knew how and where and who was going to betray him (which he did have - read all the 4 gospels and you will gain a greater understanding of the details I allude to) then he had the choice to run.
Also, He had to be INNOCENT to die as man's sacrifice. If he was innocent how could he turn himself in? He was crucified under false witness. Any question that deserved reply he gave one, however, the false pretense was not disputed. That in and of itself was evidence of a willingness to die.
In short, he had to be crucified by the UNJUST act of MAN AND SATAN under the allowance of GOD THE FATHER. He left that to them and let himself be taken in.
If you don't quite understand leave a message on my 360 (check profile for link) I will be happy to further explain. :)

Jesus hardly tried to hide. He confronted the very hierarchy of the religious order straight up. They had at one point forced Him outside the city in order to stone Him and yet He just walked through them and left. He taught openly in the synagogue, on the mountain side, and in the streets. He rode a donkey into Jerusalem and the whole city was aware of His entry. There was nothing hidden except the truth of God in the unbelieving heart.
