Does anyone believe that his death will end everything? Are we fighting only to get to Osama, instead of fighting all of Al-qaeda?

From the few answers so far, it looks a though Bush was right to say we don't care as much about Bin Laden. Sure it would be great to get him, and we will, but hasn't he become just a figure head of something much larger than himself?

In my view it is useless or even detrimental to the campaign on terror to kill that man.Firstly, the terror network that he created views fallen soldiers of their cause as heros or even matyrs. His death would mean that the remaining followers would start a new offensive to avenge his death.this would lead to greater casualties and suffering.Secondly, as you have seen in Iraq, when al-Zarqawi was killed , a man was selected to replace him.

We have seen that even if Osama Bin Laden is captured or killed, there is another that will step up into his shoes. Frankly, the issue of leaving does not hinge upon osama but the stabilization of the country. When you take thefire away from Al Queda and give the people something to work for, then we will have won.

The question is, really, moot. The variety of insurgencies and terror movements are well entrenched and have taken on a life of their own. It would appear that Osama has become redundant and offers next to nothing except, perhaps, serving as a heroic myth. His death will probably only reinforce that.

No. Its the same idea of pulling out of Iraq all at once. You can start the process of sending troops home, but if you go in blow the hell outta everythign and then just up and leave, you are going to have done nothing but made it easy for terrorist or other enemies to come in and pay to fix everythign and then turn that nation's people against us. Looking at the Iraq idea, it would turn even more hatred to the U.S. by the Muslim world. I find it interesting that the events of today tend to follow both profecy in the Bible and Karan.

I do not think he makes any difference. He can stay behind his rock. The killing & bombing will not quit with his death. We are fighting Al Queda not Osama. He is not planting the bombs or beheading the people.

There is a quote by Plato that says; "War is over only for those who died". With that said there is nothing that make the war stop in this world. There will always be that will to be better and more powerfull than others.

We are fighting terrorism. Bin Laden is just the leader of that group for now. When he dies, another crazy idiot will take his place.

osama is probably in afghanistan, where there is the taliban, not al-qaeda. and no, killing osama will only cripple them, not defeat them.

Bush is not interested in finding him. He said so himself. They are buddies and go way back.
