naaah, I think prius just looks like unique hybrids

As others have said--it's the aerodynamic styling. The 2004-2006 Prius feels less wind resistance on the highway than any other car in mass production.

Every other hybrid except for Honda's Insight is a kind of compromise: take an existing model (Civic, Highlander, Escape etc) and add a hybrid drivetrain. But Toyota went all-out with the Prius, engineering everything with a view to maximizing fuel efficiency. Hence the rather unique shape (which I rather like, but then I'm biased), particularly in the rear.

To stuff all the batteries in they had to make a tall car in back. It's not so much ugly as very clumsy looking (and clumsy driving). Just not well proportioned is all.

Prius has taken over from Volvo as "the car for people who hate cars".

The Aztek is worse. The Aztek doesn't have a proportion problem, it has a CHAOS problem. Ditto the Scion xB. The xA at least has good proportions even though it isn't beautiful.

The Prius looks way better than other cars. Plus it's good for the Environment because it is Fuel Efficient.

There are tons of ugly cars out there including the Scions, Honda element and the new dodge station wagon looking cars. At least he prius gets good gas milage I guess.

The Prius isn't ugly. Now the Element, Scions, and every Hummer that was built is ugly. Not aerodynamic at all.

The car is built for function, not styling. Aerodynamics over spoilers and ground effects...

The stlying helps reduce the drag and increase the fuel economy and that's the main goal.

LOL

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

I think my little "driftwood pearl" Prius is rather nice looking!

ya they were working too hard into the function portion of it they forgot about the aesthetics. newer hybrids are looking better. and there's even this new european car being brought in by chrysler i think. it fits only two ppl! it's like a car is cut in half!!
