I'm not making a case either way, but one of the drawbacks is that it can make you hungry and you can eat a lot of junk food. Another is that it is hard to focus, so you shouldn't smoke if you need to be able to concentrate on something. Also, in the long run, if you smoke a lot (and I mean like three joints a day), it's carcinogenic. Smoking too much of anything can put you at risk for lung cancer.

Because it's against the law. To smoke pot you probably will have to buy pot. There is a higher chance of getting caught if you find yourself buying it. Once in the legal system, they will always be watching for you to step out of line. Besides the law, there aren't many other Valid, reasons.
Most employers ask for a urine sample these days prior to hiring. some require random testing or mandatory testing if an accident occurs. I think they can only require these tests based on the fact that it's against the law.
I've heard (just hear-say, mind you) that life insurance policies are avoiding having to pay if there is evidence of THC or refusing to insure at all.
I'm not a smoker but I'm not one who believes that any one else should tell you what you can and can't do in the privacy of your own home on your own time. I'd rather have you on the road after you smoked pot, than after you had a few beers.

Smoking of any kind puts carcinogenic (bad) drugs into your system for one. 2nd point is that it can lead to you making some bad decisions while under it's influence (a point which is valid with alchohol as well). If pot or alchohol was something you will do in the future, make sure to do it in a place where you are with people you trust, and can't get hurt.

My ex husband is dependant on it. There's a difference between addicted and dependant. He smokes it every day, and can not cope with the regular ups and downs of life without it. It's really sad. One joint also has the same amt of harmful crap in it as one cigarette. Very toxic for you. It is also a stepping stone to more serious drugs.

because it will save you money, possibly your reputation (you can get arrested which will end up on your record and may affect your ability to get a job), your job, etc.
While smoking pot alone isn't enough to kill you, the other things that get put into it can. You never know what kind of weird chemicals people put on it to grow it, dry it, what happens to it on the boat here, etc. Do you really want that other stuff in your body? It can build up in your fat cells and be released later on to reak havoc- do you really want that?

Because you love your body and you want it intact.
Smoking that stuff is way more harmful to the lungs than tobacco and some of the byproducts settle in the nerves and it does bad things to your memory and motivation.
