It is a deragatory comment which casts blue collar or manual laborers as lower status individuals as compared to those who own the property they work on. It suggests that the landowners are better than those they employ--simply because they have more money. Surely this comment was is an obvious slur on many people who have to work for a living. What's the big mystery?
