I'm not sure but I know alcohol depletes your body of a lot of its natural vitamins and minerals it relies upon to deal with things like stress... Anxiety can go hand in hand with drinking too much and becomes a vicious circle, since drinking is often a coping mechanism to people prone to alcoholism.

The reason muscles or bones deteriorate when you drink alcohol is because when you drink alcohol you are usually not consuming nutritious foods. Alcohol is filled with empty calories of sugar. Empty calories meaning that you are getting lots of calories from simple sugars and not from any vitimins or minerals. Then your body fills up, does not want to eat any food because it has already recieved the daily amount of calories it needs, but it doesn't realize that it also needs important essential compounds, vitimins and minerals like calcium for bone growth, essential proteins and fatty acids (those which the body cannot produce on its own), vitimin C, vitimin B, and so on and so forth. If you drink in moderation and also maintain a healthy and nutritious diet, your muscles should not deplete because of the alcohol.
