My hair is coarse and really thick and it's just about shoulder length right now. I want something curly that will last a while. With curls a little bigger than from a straw set, but nothing too hard. I also need to know some good websites for Black hair. Thanks all!!

You should get your hair layered if it is coarse and thick before your perm to take some of the bulk out.
