I have cleaned it and deodorized it several times so his scent is not on it, but he keeps peeing on it anyway. He does not pee anywhere else in the house, just on this particular chair. What do I do?????

Stop allowing him free reign of water. This means that you should not leave a bowl of water out for him to drink or sip at whenever he wants. By doing this you have no control of when or where he pees. Withhold water for probably 6-12 hours, then give some but only as much as he will drink right then and there. Then you take him outside every 1- 2 hours. Do this until you can grasp his peeing schedule. I don't know what kind of dog you have but I would think 2-3 drinks a day is probably adequate.
Also you will need to get some of that enzyme cleaner from the pet store to take the scent out of the chair. Just deodorizing it doesn't make it so he can't smell it. Also try some of that anti pee spray. I had to use that for a while when we trained my dog. After about two weeks she forgot about the spot and just started going outside every time.

Good luck

Even though you've cleaned and deodorized, he still smells it. Dogs sense of smell is phenomenal. Additionally, it has apparently become a habit to him to use the chair. You probably will not like this, but I would remove the chair to a room that he does not have access to. Once a dog does something six times, it becomes a habit, which appears to be the case here.

He's domininating your recliner as his property and also marking his terrority. This is a common sign for male dogs. One permanent solution is spaying your dog and it will reduce his urge to do so. Another way is to take note of your dog's action when he's near the recliner, when he's about to raise his hind leg, you need to distract him but either calling his name, when he put his leg down, praise him and tell him this is the correct way and hurry bring him to the right place for him to pee.
Repeat this step for a few days constantly and he will more or less get the idea on peeing in the right "toilet".
Hope this helps you, if not, you can ask me again.

Just because the smell is gone to you does not mean that the dog can not still smell his potty place, and for whatever reason, he has chosen this chair. Wal-Mart sells URINE GONE for around twenty dollars, and I have heard it works wonders. I have been blessed with doggies that don't potty on the furniture or the carpets, but I hold this to the fact that they are kennel trained. Kennel training is a wonderful technique for house training. It teaches dogs boundaries and provides a safe environment for times when you are away. Can also save you from damage to your own personal belongings.

you should buy a new recliner...because that recliner is your puppies recliner now...he/she is telling you that by marking there spot...now if you don't want to do this...time to train your young pup...rub his nose in the pee...give him/her a spanking after...spare the whip...spoil the pup...lol...i would just put the recliner on the porch and not let him up on the new 1 ever...and if the pup gets on it...let him/her know a spanking comes with being on it...

Stop having him up on the chair.Tell him OFF and when he does praise him for it or give him a treat.By the way you do not spay a male dog you neuter it and yes he could be marking his territory but I would still teach him to be off the couch.

They have this stuff called "Doggy No No" that you can spray on it. Go to the pet store and ask for it (or a similar product). It really works. Dogs just hate the smell of it and won't go near it.

Crate train him again. Or for the first time. And put aluminum foil on the chair.
