Any abstinence programs that just rely on JUST SAY NO concept without even bothering to educate people is very ridiculous.
The key to prevention is EDUCATION. Who gives a damn what god or who not thinks about sex---that is not going to help your virgin a** if your sharing needles.

Abstinence, even better than any other Aids Prevention Programmes, would be 100% effective in keeping people safe, alive and healthy (at least in regard to aids) if followed carefully.
Like any other program, it'll only work if used as directed.
And have you ever considered that the 'religious dogma' is there for an actual reason? Perhaps the Creator of humanity gave the rules for keeping it healthy because He knew what He was talking about. A car manufacturer includes
a user's manual that tells what makes it run well and what will ruin it. Surely God is at least as intelligent as a car manufacturer.

Abstinence is a good lesson but lets face it ppl rarely do, so only teaching abstinence is very dangerous, ppl should have all the information then be allowed to choose for themselves at least that way if they are having sex it will be safe for them and their partner, it's common sense really ppl r gonna have sex it's what we do. giving ppl the correct information is the only way to stop the spread of AIDS.
T-MC is right they did an episode of Penn and Teller and it showed abstinence only teachings do a lot more harm than good, we also pump millions of tax dollars into these programs that rarely succeed!

I'm thoroughly enjoying this line of questions, you abomination of an abomination, you
Everyone likes to ignore the reality that this is NOT a society that waits until marriage, that has one mate for life. It's easier to bury your heads in the sand and say it doesn't happen... and to assume that each person who contracts a disease is DESERVING of that fate.
That's like saying "just say no to sugar" to combat childhood onset of adult diabetes. "Shouldn't have had that twinkie, huh fattie?" lot of sense that makes
...Why not take the reality of the situation to establish a practical strategy to combat the issue even if that oh so harsh reality just might not fall in line with your religious beliefs. If you want to wait until you're good and hitched, great, we're all so very proud of you, oh yeah and you win. Let us sinners rub our naughty bits til it hurts though
It's far past my bedtime right now, but I needed an idiotic rant before turning in for the night.

No, they are not an abomination. Think of a better way to prevent AIDS than abstinence and I might change my response.

The gay lifestyle is an abomination to God. This means it’s disgusting an abhorrence, a feeling of repugnance or loathing.
Those who promote this lifestyle have a darkened heart and have become fools by their own perverted mind. Their acts are a disgrace of vile affections doing unseemly passions of infamy. Vain in their imaginations they are morally wicked. They defile themselves through the lusts of their own hearts. It’s indecency, dishonour, and unclean.
But they can’t reserve this life style or death style to themselves, they want to destroy others by promoting it. They want special rights and ungodly unions recognized as marriage.
Most people could be tolerant as long as this vile death style was not so public. But by promoting this abomination it is impossible to be tolerant, unless you are deceived. Because this would be tolerance of destroying of souls and destruction of our society. Being blinded into acceptance of this repugnant death style will cease God’s blessings.
Now everyone is a sinner and falls short. Christ has set us free from the bondage of sin. Upon repentance we are forgiven. Our sins can be blotted out no more to be remembered. That’s the whole purpose of this flesh life. To defeat Satan (death) legally and to offer salvation to whomsoever.

Abstinence is the best way to prevent pregnancy and STD's.
However, not teaching children about condoms in school is simply pointless and puts our children at risk. After all it's not up to the school to teach our kids that sex is wrong.
It's up to our school to teach our kids that sex is dangerous.
Of course, it's up the community that the school is in to decide what they want to teach their children.
I support abstinence, and I support condoms. I also support drug legalization and anti-drug groups like DARE (provided they get their facts straight.)

i would dare say that not having sex would be a good way to prevent 'sexually transmitted' disease.
if washing hands stops infection, wash hands. if sleeping with everyone in the village spread the disease, stop sleeping around.
not rocket science.

I completely agree. Look up the statistics for condom failure ratings. I think the safest way is abstinence, don't you? I'm looking at facts, not dogma.

Abstaining people cannot get AIDS can they?
People who use condoms can--the AIDS virus is smaller than the natural flaws found in condoms.
