A tooth abscess is a collection of infected material (pus) resulting from bacterial infection of the center (pulp) of a tooth. you need antibiotic to first get rid of the infection. they do this cause drilling into tooth while infected could spread the infection into your blood and possible be deadly. if you are having pain ask for pain killers from dentist most will give you vicodin.

There are only two things that will permanently help a tooth that is abscessed: a root canal or to have the tooth taken out. I'm a big believer in trying to save teeth; so I always try to get patients to go for the root canal. Either way, you need to contact a dentist and have them look at the tooth. An abscessed tooth can be very dangerous if left untreated for too long (people have died from it! EEK!) So please, don't wait too long to do something about it! Good luck

First see a dentist, antibiotics, you have two choices to take care of the abscess either a root canal or an extraction.

First aid for tooth abscess: Rinse with salt water, or hydrogen peroxide. Get thee to a dentist before you lose that tooth!
