Volvo prides itself for the safest car makers in the world. They had carried out a study long back which highlighted the followings:
Safest Color: Orange
Least Safest Color: Dark/Navy Blue and Black (following Navy Blue!)
It was found that Orange was identifiable from one & half miles under some test conditions (I don't remember exactly) than Dark Blue. Further, the eye pupils reacted more faster in case of an orange color vehicle when seen by the driver from the opposite.

Just about all baby stuff has to meet minimum standards, so almost anything you get at Walmart or Costco will be good. I personally like Graco stuff. I've never had problems with them. You will *defintely* need/want a stroller/car seat combo! It's so convenient having the baby in a carrier that you can just take out of the car when they're sleeping without having to wake them up. Once you switch to the bigger car seat, it's such a pain taking them out since it always wake them up! And the cheaper, 'umbrella' strollers can't be used by babies until they have excellent head control (4 to 5 months old). The car seat you definitely want to buy new to be safe, but the crib and (separate) stroller you can probably find second-hand. Just make sure that the cribs rails are only 2-2 1/2 inches apart, and it's in overall good condition.

I would say Red is safest because most people will see it.
Silver is definately the least safe because of issues like reflection, rain, snow, sleet and other things that blend in. It's the hardest car to see on the road.

Red is always a good color. The police tend to pull over more red cars because they're so visible.
Worst color? The color of my old car - pearlescent sky blue. It blends in with the sky and you're almost invisible. Anything that is light and close to hues on the road (light sand, sky blue) is going to make an accident more likely.

Yellow is the safest because it seems to be the most visible. Red seems to get the most speeding tickets, and I think black would be the most dangerous color to drive.

I don't really think color matters. Either you need to depend on the car to be safe or you need to ask yourself if you really know how to drive.

Brighter colors are easier to see, so if any color is safer than another, go with brighter. Unsafe? I would say black cars at night, white cars in the snow, green cars in state parks, etc. Common sense.
