Anyone who accepts evolution accepts the commonly accepted theory that humans evolved from ape-like ancestors. That goes for muslims, christians, hindus, whoever.

And yes, there are plenty of christians who accept evolution. Most of them do, really.

Moreover, "science" is not something that you capitalize - it's not a proper noun, like a religion or whatever.

I'm a biology major and I struggle with this question. Last semester I had this geology class about the history of the earth and it blew my mind. They also mentioned Earth colliding with the planet Theia (I noticed someone else brought this up too) to create the earth as we know it now and creating the moon which stabilized earth's orbit and established the tidal patterns. I do believe in evolution but man. The more you learn, the more you actually realize how many variables have to be in play to make things possible for life as we know it. Everything works together so perfectly, I really believe Allah created all these things and made it happen. I don't think it was some big accident or fluke of nature.

The easiest answer but hard for you would be to read the Koran. But to make it easy, Muslims believe in the divine just as Jews and Christians do. And, just as some Jews and Christians believe in Evolution, there are probably those Muslims who also believe. Now you may say that if a Christian believes in Evolution, he can't really be a Christian. If you believe this, then your answer will be the same for a Muslim or a Jew for that matter. Do you understand? Muslims, Jews, and Christians all have a basic theology and share many of the same stories you read in the Bible (if you read the bible, I of course, don't know what religion you are).

No, we don't believe in evolution, but we do believe the world is that old. We do believe there was life before humans, like dinosaurs and the other fossils and that the first life was in water. Noone really knows the exact time of Adam and Huwwa (Eve), but there is a rough figure from hints in the Quran and Hadith (sayings of Muhammad) of a little over 10,000 years ago. The Quran and the rest of Islam actually encourages growth of knowledge, unlike some other religions. I'm not trying 2 convert u, but a lot of wut the quran says is true. there's proof of the creation in a mosquito that fell into sap millions of years ago and is still frozen solid that is identical 2 the mosquitos that live today. there's more proof and answers 2 ur question on creation and Islam at harunyahya.com and whyislam.org I know the names sound like they're only terrorist's myspaces and an online Islamic missionary, but they're not.

Im not muslim.I will answer to the best of my knowlegde.

Muslims believe that God created the Earth in six days.BUT in six of God's says NOT 24hour days. In the Quran the beginning of the universe is roughly explained and it is similar to scientist theory of 'the big bang'.
Muslims don't believe we evolved from apes. The Quran states that God breathed the breath of life into Adam.

Not being a muslim I can't speak to their beliefs. I merely want to correct a glaring error in your statement. Neither Darwin, nor current evolutionary teachings ever stated that we descended from apes. That's a twist placed on the theory by individuals who don't believe things that are better adapted to their environment and better equipped to survive in their specific circumstances create offspring that are also so equipped. The theory merely states that homo sapiens and other higher level primates have a common ancestor. Even if you believe in a higher power or supreme being, do you not believe that entity smart enough to have produced species that can improve themselves when it's necessary to survive. My goodness, humans can make evolution happen when they breed specific kinds of dogs to get the characteristics that make them "better". Humans also do it with plants, hardier corn, longer living flowers, better grass, bigger turnips, and you don't think God is smart enough to make it happen in nature. Wow, what arrogance!

Muslims DON'T believe in evolution.
Muslims believe Adam and Eve were sent down to earth from heaven (The same old story), and they started the human race.

"I have heard many muslims say that the world is 4.5 billion years old, as in accordance to Science"
That's true, and they believe that because Science said so, not the Quran, the Quran did not mention anything like that.
